The better part of 2012 was spent developing this branded entertainment series that was 20, 6-minute episodes. Shot with NFL Films, we followed 11 rookies to 14 states and had 120 shoot days. It is the most complex longest project I have ever been a part of. Why did we go through the trouble?#WinFromWithin. Gatorade wanted to use the stories of these players to show the difficulty in ‘making it’ and how sports nutrition and what people put into their bodies was a tool that could help.
The project taught me a lot about story arcs, documentary film making, the seeding challenges of releasing content in bulk, fame and football. I learned the NFL was a super world class production company. And that when going to Cozad, Nebraska to watch the draft with a guy who thinks he is going in the first round but doesn’t get drafted until late in the 3rd round, things, might get awkward, but are worth sticking around to see.
